Water ingress from the roof across multiple areas—caused by inadequate downpipes—resulted in prolonged moisture exposure and subsequent mould growth within wall and ceiling cavities. Due to delays in reporting the incident, the extent of contamination had increased, requiring a carefully managed remediation approach. Restofix was engaged to restore the property to its pre-loss condition, with particular attention given to maintaining safe public access and protecting high-value contents, including thousands of books at risk of secondary damage.

• To control the indoor environment, air filtration devices were installed throughout all affected areas.

• Negative pressure containment systems were then established in accordance with S520 mould remediation standards, ensuring contaminants were effectively isolated during the works.

• All impacted materials were safely removed and remediated while allowing the facility to remain operational and accessible to the public.

• Upon completion, an independent Indoor Environmental Professional conducted a Post-Remediation Verification (PRV), with the project successfully achieving clearance on the first assessment.
